How to get into Mixed Martial Arts

The first thing you will need to ask yourself are you wanting to do this for a career down the road, or this is your way of getting/staying in shape, or you want to be able to protect yourself? When you are done narrowing down your reasoning’s and knowing why you want to get out of MMA.  The next step is finding gym’s that are some what close to you; personally I would want something under a 30 minute drive from home or work.  We all have those long days that we just want to go home or do not want to work out; so not having such a far drive shouldn’t be an excuse from not making practices! You have found some gyms around you, now it’s time to do some research on them; read reviews, search them on the internet, check their facebook, and see if you know anyone that trains there. Your training partners are going to be your biggest support team, they all want the same thing you want; so they are there just like you. Now it’s time to go in person to check the gym out. How you should pick what gym to look at comes down to: why do you want to train, what do you what to learn (striking, grappling, wrestling, etc) and where is their location? Now we are visiting the gyms we picked out. How do you feel about training there? Do you like their trainers? Do the members seem friendly? How is the price? Ask to try out a class if they offer. If you can answer more “Yes’s” then “No’s” then that gym could be your new home! I hope this helps you to get into this sport!
