Health & Hapiness

Something I talk about with all of my clients is the importance of being happy, I mean, truly happy, in life. I stress this so persistently because our emotional life directly affects our physical life. If you are consumed with stress or bitterness, you are not living as healthy a life as you could be.

Think back to a time when you were passionately in love. Or perhaps the day you bought your very first brand new car. Everything was exciting. You felt as if you were walking on Cloud 9! During these times it is likely you found it much easier to stay on track with your diet and exercise routine. Why? Well when we are surrounded by good energy and feeling good, we are more inclined to do those things which keep the momentum flowing. Making healthy food choices that nourish our bodies and souls, and taking time to exercise, are no exceptions.

Now think of a time when you were depressed, or lacked self-esteem. Or perhaps were felling lonely? Maybe you just went through a break up? Ever find yourself eating an entire gallon of ice cream or an excessive amount of junk food? Even in good times when we come home at night, when we aren’t even hungry, we find ourselves looking for something to eat, when all we really want is a hug or someone to talk to.

Such things as a meaningful spiritual practice, a career you are excited about, consistent and fun physical activity, and good, honest relationships that satisfy your soul are the things you will find true happiness in. So often I have people tell me they want to loose weight or have a healthier lifestyle, but they just don’t seem to succeed. When I ask them about their life, they tell me they are miserable at work, or in loveless relationship. Hmmm…coincidence? I think not. If you can find happiness in these core areas of your life, it will make the path towards a healthy life easy and attainable. So sit down and assess your life. If there are things you are not satisfied with, make changes! I know it can seem scary, but imagine yourself living the life you have always dreamed of…whatever that means to you. Happiness and health go hand and hand. Never give up. I promise…it’ll be worth it! Merry Christmas!!!
